Getting Started
Early doors
So we’ve now kicked off the Sports Media LGBT+ network group – hopefully you’ve already read our explainer about who we are and what we do. What happens next?
Contacting the network
Jon Holmes writes…
At the time of writing, we have a group of around 60 sports media professionals from across the industry who have reached out to us, or whom we have informed of the project.
We’re now looking to engage with all those people – and any potential new contacts – to provide networking opportunities that are valuable and constructive, either through arranging meet-ups and events, or via online dialogues.
Our most recent meet-up was on Monday, November 13, at 6.30pm in central London – an informal gathering for drinks, food, and catching up.
We’re busy establishing strong affiliations with other media organisations and network groups; contributing to ongoing sports media discussions about inclusion and diversity; and listen and act upon your suggestions about what an LGBT+ network might be able to achieve.
We’ll also be looking to get more channels of communication set up, and introduce you to some of the people already involved with the network by posting some website profiles.
If you’re interested in learning more about our plans, or you’d like to offer assistance in any way, or you’d just like to join our mailing list, please get in touch via info@sportsmedialgbt.com. We’re also on Twitter at @SportsMediaLGBT. Thanks!
