Take the Sports Media LGBT+ Survey and help us to assess the industry on inclusion

It’s been four years since we last took the temperature of our industry via a survey, and with the BCOMS’ DWord Conference being held in July, we felt it was time to invite you once again to let us know about your experiences in sports media on all things LGBT+…

The last BCOMS DWord Conference was held back in 2018 at BT Sport Studios in London

Sports Media LGBT+ has opened a new survey, inviting all those in the industry to contribute towards a greater understanding of inclusion.

The short survey has been constructed to help with the provision of relevant metrics and anonymous example experiences.

This will ensure that senior leaders from across sports media are better informed of the reality of being LGBT+ in workplaces and how the production of content reflects these communities in sport.

Sports Media LGBT+ last held a survey in October 2018, when just under half of those responding who were LGBT+ and who worked in the industry said they were either not out at work or were only out to close friends and colleagues.

The survey also suggested anti-LGBT+ language and behaviour was still a major issue in sports media, with 45.2% of respondents who worked in the industry saying they had witnessed or been subjected to this in the preceding two years.

This survey has now closed – results will be available soon. If you have any questions or comments, please email us at info@sportsmedialgbt.com.
